Installation Fails due to .dll Error
If you encounter a problem during installation of LinkWare PC, here are some things to check:
- You must be logged in with Administrator rights to install and run the software. Failures due to .dll errors are common when the user login does not have Administrator rights.
- Install all recommended Windows Updates by Microsoft. Reboot the PC and try the installation again.
Does your PC meet the minimum System Requirements?
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster, 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
Windows® 7, 8.1, or 10 operating system (Windows XP is no longer supported).
Download and run the larger “standalone” installation file.
With LinkWare 9.8, it now requires the system to have installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.
The LinkWare PC install program will do this, but you must have Administrator rights on your login for it to install successfully.
The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 may also be downloaded from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685
If you still cannot get LinkWare PC installed, contact your local IT support group for your PC and see if there are group policies in place or lack of Administrator rights on your login that may have prevented a successful installation of the program. Sometimes having local IT support install the program for the end user is successful.
We have had a few customers with installation issues in Windows 8.1 run the following link, then try the installation again with pretty good success:
